[Dixielandjazz] Fertile territory

Couldn't find any Dixieland in the city of Cebu Steve needs to check out  
this virgin (?) territory.
We did find a club called "Jazz & Blues"  downtown. The music was  mostly 
latin and pop-rock . The female vocalists were good however, and  probably could 
have handled the lyrics to Bill Bailey quite well. Abut midway  through the 
evening the electric bass man dragged out a stand up bass from  somewhere back 
stage and a quartet proceeded to offeer  a progressive jazz  number. He went 
through all the antics that cool bass players do, and for a  short while it 
could have been a N.Y. scene from the fifties. 
 
Good thing about the place is you can get out of there for about ten bucks,  
which includes the cover for two and several beers..Try that in N.Y. 
 
I wonder how Dixieland would go over ..
 
I did see an ad for the "Riverboat Jazz Club" in Manila, but no time to go  
that far to check it out.
