I agree.  My son went through "jazz band" in junior high and high school.
>From listening to the kids involved at his school and others, I think most
of them learned that Miles Davis invented jazz in 1960.  I think a lot of
educators need some re-education.

The Jim Cullum Jazz Band will perform an evening concert at the 33rd Annual
Conference of the International Association for Jazz Education in New York
City, Thursday, January 12, 2006.

This is great news for OKOM. Perhaps this will help Traditional Jazz, the
core of the music, gain a more prominent position with Jazz Educators.
