Jeremy Huggett's BAND OF GOLD

With JIM FRYER (USA)

8 September 2005 - Clevedon Jazz Club

With Jeremy Huggett's Band of Gold at the Club's regular Walton Park Hotel venue on Thursday 8 September, will be the Club's second guest trombonist from the USA in 2005.

Jim Fryer began his professional career at age 16 in the Boston area. In the three decades since, he has toured internationally many times, recorded on dozens of occasions and played television, radio, theatres and concert halls in a variety of musical settings. He is the co-leader of the Fryer-Barnhart International All-Stars and is also a member of the Titan Hot Seven.

Since his first tour in 1988, Jim has returned regularly to the United Kingdom. He has performed as a featured soloist at many of the most prominent festivals in the UK and Ireland, including Edinburgh, Brecon, Cork, Bude and Keswick.

In his home state of Connecticut, he keeps a very busy professional schedule, performing throughout New England and New York City area. He has played with many notables such as Ed Polcer, Peter Ecklund, Doc Cheatham, Kenny Davern, Butch Thompson, Slide Hampton, Rosemary Clooney, Dave Brubeck and Aretha Franklin. 

As well as being an exceptional jazz trombonist covering many eras of jazz styles, his talents also include jazz cornet, euphonium, tuba and vocals. 

Jim has worked with Band of Gold on three occasions at Keswick and Bude Jazz festivals. This mini tour of the South West was instigated by Jim himself as he enjoys playing with the band so much a direct quote being that they are awesome! 

The doors at Clevedon Jazz Club's Walton Park Hotel venue open at 8pm, the music starts at 8.30pm and its £7 'on the door' (Members £5-50).
