Dear Greg:

That make you a Perfect Dixielander, who was taught that OKOM stopped
about 1939 ish, so you would have probably never heard of much less
used such things which after Marajewwanna, and Heroin, which was Taboo,
even though used heavily in the entertainment industry by legendary
entertainers but kept very discreet in those Victorian times. real
American heros like Marty Robbins and Ricky Nelsen( who later blew up
his Lear Jet free basing Cocaine in flight killing his entire band)
used such substances. As did many a Country & Western Star of the day,
not to mention their Bus Drivers.

MOST DIXIELAND HEROS RELYED UPON HEAVY BOOZE, the drug of the day, The
Black guys like Louis Armstrong, and others of his time resorted to Pot
as it was much cheaper in those days and many of hem grew their own
before it was fashionable to do so. In the 60,s you could buy a bag of
Bennies for $5.00 that would keep you awake for a month. Now you
don't even want to know what they cost. They are still illegal, but
you can buy stronger stuff over the counter as diet pills for less.

Heck I even remember the Glue Sniffers, and Romilar Cough Syrup freaks
hooked on Codeine, a drummers favorite for a while.

Not mine however, I was not a druggie, or heavy boozer till I got into
OKOM music. :))
I needed it to get through the pizza parlor gigs, Ha ha ,, Just
kidding!!
Cheers,

Tom Wiggins
