To add to this post, the bassist with Al Trace for much of this period 
was Charlie DeVore's father, Dave. Dave subbed for awhile at Jazz Ltd. 
when I was in the house band, so I knew Charlie's dad before I knew 
Charlie. And of course to make the small world circle even more linked, 
I worked in Aspen with Freddie Fisher, with whom Geroge Rock worked at 
an earlier time, and of course George joined Spike at a time when my dad 
was one of the featured players so I got to know him, too. Hell I even 
know Butch -- I know EVERYBODY in this circle. Just a big know 'em all, 
I guess.
