Ok all you Katsanjammers in the Northern California area, here is a
living legend for you to see and hear, but it is not at OKOM prices,
but so what it could very well be the last time you get to see this Guy
in this life, and the next one too for that matter depending upon where
either of you goes. :))
Unfortunately I can't go as I will be on the road makin' music with my
friends.
83 years in Show business makes him pretty ancient don't it. Should
be worth $57.00 just to watch him breath in and breath out ? Bet it's
the fact that he talks so fast that keeps his Heart Beating, his lips
no doubt act as a pacemaker :))
Break a Leg Mickey, wish I could be there, One more time.
Cheers, Ya'll
Tom Wiggins

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Hollywood Legend "Mickey Rooney"
and
"California Independent Film Festival Association"
says
"Let's Put On A Show"
Walnut Creek,Ca.- August 26th. 2005
Hollywood Icon "Mickey Rooney" and his wife
of 25 years, "Jan Rooney," will present "Let's Put On A Show-- A Very
Special
Evening of Songs, Reminiscences and Jazz," on Friday August 26th at
"The Dean
Lesher Regional Center for the Arts" in Walnut Creek as a fundraiser
for The
California Independent Film Festival Association.
"Let's Put On A Show" is an autobiographical play with music and video
that
celebrates the life and times of one of the world's most notable
actors and
entertainers, Mickey Rooney. Mickey weaves anecdotal and musical
memories of his
life in film, stage, vaudeville, and burlesque into a show that always
brings
a smile and often a tear as audiences reminisce about how the life of
this
legend touched their lives. He celebrates the women in his life,
including Ava
Gardner and Judy Garland culminating with his current wife of over 25
years, Jan
Rooney--an outstanding performer and co-star.
Born into a vaudeville family, Rooney began performing at the age of
17
months. Entering the movie business in 1927, he literally made his
name as the
title character in the Mickey McGuire shorts. These were a series of
over forty
silent, two-reel comedies adapted from the Toonerville Trolley comic
strip, in
which he starred through 1936. For a time he billed himself as Mickey
McGuire,
but legally changed his name to Mickey Rooney in 1932.
Rooney's successful role as Andy Hardy in "A Family Affair" (1937) led
to
fourteen further films featuring that character from 1938 to 1958. His
fame
peaked in World War II with a string of successful musicals with Judy
Garland,
including the Oscar nominated "Babes in Arms"(1939) as well as more
serious
roles
in films such as The Human Comedy (1943) and National Velvet (1944).
All in all, Mickey is a man with over 200 films under his belt. His
many film
credits include "Boys Town," "Strike Up the Band," "A Midsummer
Night's
Dream" (1935), "Girl Crazy," "Captains Courageous," "Breakfast at
Tiffany's,"
"It's
a Mad Mad Mad Mad World," "Pete's Dragon" and many more.
He earned an Honorary Oscar for Lifetime Achievement, a special
Juvenile
Oscar he shared with Deana Durbin in 1939, five Oscar nominations, one
Emmy
Award, five Emmy Nominations and two Golden Globes. Mickey's career
has extended
through many generations and in many different directions. Mickey
Rooney: actor,
survivor, inventor and Hollywood living legend. This year marks
MickeyGÇÖs 80th
year of making movies and 83rd year of entertaining.
His entire achievements pale, in comparison to what Mickey considers
his
greatest life achievement. That is his 25 year marriage to Jan
(Chamberlin)
Rooney. A stellar talent in her own right, Jan is a muti-faceted
Singer,
Actress,
Songwriter and Abstract Artist.
"Mickey Rooney is an 80-year veteran of show business and we are
honored to
bring this Hollywood Legend to Walnut Creek" said Tim Neeley, the
festival
director of The California Independent Film Festival Association.
The California Independent Film Festival Association which produces
The
Danville International Children's Film Festival and The California
Independent
Film
Festival is dedicated to furthering the art of independent filmmakers
and
recognizing the creativity and talent of filmmakers from around the
