For those of you within driving distance of San Antonio:

Beginning this Saturday night August 13, the well-known cornetist from
Florida DAVY JONES will be taking over for Jim Cullum at the Landing
Jazz Club on the Riverwalk in San Antonio. Davy will be playing from the
13th through the 20th while Jim tramps around Europe.

Davy is probably best known outside of Florida for his work with the
Black Dogs, formerly known as Uncle Yoke's Black Dog Jazz Band.
Currently, he works at Walt Disney World in Orlando where he is the
featured cornetist with the Grand Floridian Society Orchestra.

Over the past twenty years of his jazz career he's played with many
great jazz artists such as: Don Mopsick (of course), Wild Bill Davidson,
Billy Butterfield, Johnny Mince, Knocky Parker, Flip Phillips, Spiegle
Willcox, Tommy Newsom, Warren Vaché Jr. and many others.

Davy has recorded with Bob Haggart, Butch Miles, Johnny Varro, Allan
Vaché, Phil Flanigan, Rick Fay, Eddie Higgins, Jerry Jerome, John
Allred, Bill Allred, Roy Bookbinder.

I first worked with Davy in the late 1970s in Ft. Myers FL. When I
started at WDW in 1983, Davy was there, and he's still there. Davy's
tasty playing style is highly original but with the evident influences
of great classic cornetists such as Dick Cathcart, Wild Bill, Hackett,
etc. Lately, we last heard Davy blow with Alan Vache's bunch at
Dixieland Monterey, with Flanigan, Leary, etc.

You owe it to yourself to check us out. See you there.
