[Dixielandjazz] Focal Dystonia

I see many articles on the internet about the various areas of the body that
can be affected by focal dystonia, but fewer about any preventative measures
that may help.

There appears to be a forum on Musicians Medicine coming up this September
in Barcelona, Spain.... http://www.institutart.com/congress2005/. The
dystonias that effect the relevant body areas for different types of
musicians are the focus of this seminar.

Looks very interesting and so relevant. Thinking of Louis Armstrong
literally "shaving off parts of the muscle with a razor blade" is so
sobering...but apparently the definition of this disorder wasn't commonly
known to musicians then.

Most players are not familiar with it--until suddenly they get it, or
some friend gets it and is instantly a former musician.
