Hi Berry,

I found the text on a CD by the German band "Jazz Lips" and altered it while
listening to Chris Barber's version:

The big bass drum led that big parade,
all on a Mardi Gras day
The big bass drum led that big parade,
all on a Mardi Gras day
The big bass drum led that big parade,
all on a Mardi Gras day
All you can hear the people sayin'
"a-oom-ba-way 'n to-wa-ba-ca-way"

The (Pepperhouse Band) played that second line,
all on a Mardi Gras day...
Eating gilli coconut and drinking mellow wine
all on a Mardi Gras day.
King Zulu ain't jivin', he's feeling fine,
all on a Mardi Gras day,
All you can hear the people sayin'
"a-oom-ba-way 'n to-wa-ba-ca-way"

Big chief Tutti did that ti-na-na
all on a Mardi Gras day
Did you see what I heard, did you hear what I saw
all on a Mardi Gras day.
"Throw me something, mister,
that's what carnival's for"
all on a Mardi Gras day
All you can hear the people sayin'
"a-oom-ba-way 'n to-wa-ba-ca-way"

I trust this helps! Lots of success!
Groeten,
