Dear Don,
Regarding: >Has either one [of the following] been recorded as a jazz
number?<
This is what I have on file.

James Scott, "Ragtime Oriole," 1911
*Ken Colyer's Jazzmen. Joy LP S194. 1974. (A ragtime 'revisited' album.)

Joseph Lamb, "Ragtime Nightingale," 1914
*Uptown Lowdown Jazz Band. GHB 149 LP. 1980.
*Dave Dallwitz Euphonic Sounds Ragtime Ensemble (Australian). Aug 1984.
Stomp Off LP SOS 1098. (This has more of a Ragtime flavour than a jazz
sound.)
*Down Home Jazz band. Aug 1988, Stomp Off LP SOS 1190. (This is a Ray
Skjelbred ragtime piano solo with rhythm, so does not really qualify.)
There are other versions of both tunes on jazz band LPs (Black Eagles,
etc.), but these are also piano solo features.
So I suppose that, apart from the possible exception of the Colyer and
Uptown Lowdown Jazz Band sides, the answer to your question is probably -
no!
Kind regards,
Bill.
