A story worthy of me ole mate Wiggins!
When the VW 'beetle' hit Australia (way back then) there was a story doing
the rounds that, when in motion and the big hub caps reached a certain
revolution per minute, the VW logo on them became a swastika!
Similar in effect to the stroboscope device used to confirm 78, 45 and 33
1/3 rpm record speeds?
Being of an enquiring mind, I set up a variable-speed record turntable (only
ever used to play jazz records, thereby satisfying the jazz content for this
thread) and a cardboard cutout of the VW logo in an attempt replicate the
phenomenon.
