Subject: [Dixielandjazz] Actors faking playing

Hello Lily

The film that springs to mind is James Stewart 'playing' trombone in the
Glenn Miller Story

Cheers

At the time the movie came out I was editing Down Beat and went to the world
premiere of the pic in Clarinda IA, Miller's home town. Stewart was there as
well and in chatting with him about the movie I asked him who had coached
him in playing, or seeming to play, the trombone.

He grinned widely and told me that his help had come from Joe Yukl and that
the sessions had been among the most pleasurable things he had enjoyed
during the film's making.
