Greetings folks,

Here’s some details of our next gig at St John’s Arts Centre, Old Harlow,
Essex, GB.

BBC Jazz Award Winner, Keith Nichols at Old Harlow

With Keith Donald, Bass & John Petters, Drums

Thursday 28th April 2005 @ 8PM

St John’s Arts Centre, Old Harlow

An outstanding evening of music, embracing classic ragtime, jazz,
boogie-woogie and swing is promised when BBC Jazz Heritage Award Winner,
Keith Nichols, returns to St John’s Arts Centre (St John’s Walk, Market St,
Old Harlow) on Thursday 28th April at 8:00PM.

In addition to some fine piano virtuosity and a selection of evergreen
songs, echoing the great Fats Waller, Keith will improvise brand new piano
accompaniments to silent Movies featuring Charlie Chaplin and Laurel &
Hardy.

Ragtime and jazz developed in parallel with the silent cinema and Keith is
believed to be the only jazz performer to regularly provide the musical
backdrop for these classic comedy masterpieces.

Not merely a superbly talented pianist, Keith Nichols was a child prodigy on
the piano accordion, becoming ‘Great Britain Junior Champion’ on the
instrument in 1960. He also plays trombone, soprano saxophone and
vibraphone, as well as being a talented arranger.

In 1976, he was invited by Bing Crosby to record one of the crooner’s final
albums, ‘Feels Good, Feels Right’.

He led the highly acclaimed ‘Midnite Follies Orchestra’ and performed at
Carnegie Hall with the ‘New Paul Whiteman Orchestra’.

Last year his achievements in promoting the early jazz styles he was
presented with the Jazz Heritage Award by the BBC.

Tickets are only £10 and are available from 0800 496 0673.
