You should find an application that comes as part of Windows called
Character Map. On Windows 2000 it lives in 
Programs->Accessories->System Tools, but it may be somewhere else
on your particular system.

This pops up a window showing all the weird and wonderful characters
available in all the different fonts. You can select any and copy
them so they can be pasted somewhere else. It also has a pop-up
showing what Alt-### combination to use if you hover over a character.
