Dear Don and Dan,
According to Australian author John Buchanan in 'Emperor Norton's Hunch. The
Story of the Lu Watters' YBJB', the Big Bear Tavern was/is "in the Berkeley
Hills...a home-awa- from-home for all jazz musicians in the Bay area [in the
late 1930s - early 1940s]."
According to my Rand McNally, this puts it north of the Oakland hills.
But what would I know?
