[Dixielandjazz] "Christmas Gigs"

Just a quick note to the "working" musicians on the list. There is an
incredible latent demand for Christmas Season music at restaurants all over
our area. (Philadelphia PA, USA)

These are mostly trio/quartet gigs and the jazzy music of "Charlie Brown",
ala Vince Guraldi (spelling?) sells like hot cakes when mixed with Frosty,
Jingle Bells, Rudolph and the Grinch etc.

I suspect this is true all over the USA. If you haven't booked 10 or 15
December gigs in this format, put it on file for next year. Easy money for a
couple of hours around dinner time, even during the week when you are idle,
and a VERY EASY SELL.

Several groups, including mine, doing it here. Even a few full band
Dixieland gigs, because this music adapts well to polyphonic counterpoint.

Cheers,
Steve Barbone
