"Sailing, sailing,
Over the bounding main,
For many a stormy wind shall blow
'Til Jack comes home again!"
Dear Pat,
I remember that song from when I was knee high to a grasshopper, but have
always sung the word 'bounty'.
Which is how I remembered it as a kid.
Perhaps, because of our Australian historical obsession with William Bligh
and the 1789 mutiny on the Bounty.
So when I transcribed the "Da Da Strain' lyrics from the record, naturally I
'heard' "bounty main" (as always) not the correct "bounding main".
Thanks for picking that up.
Even at my advanced age I learn something new every day.
Very kind regards,
Bill.
