" Pipe" meaning to look at may or may not have been " jive talk" (not in my
backyard) but I recall the likes of actor Leo Gorcey as "Spit" in The Dead
End Kids  movies  saying  ,"Hey, pipe the broad".(not politically
in-correct in the late '30s)                                al singer
