Jeremy Huggett's
BAND OF GOLD
10 June 2004 - Clevedon Jazz Club
'What, Indoors' exclaimed their manager! Well yes of course! After a superb, and still talked about Ampep Saturday Shoppers Concert performance in Clevedon Triangle as part of Long Weekend 2003 - Clevedon's 11th Annual Jazz Weekend, where else could they play except Clevedon Jazz Club's regular venue. So there they are, Jeremy Huggett's Band of Gold on Thursday 10 June. The band combine the award winning talents of one of the best reed players in the UK with three of the best professional musicians in the Southwest. They bring with them a wealth of talent and experience, and the result is a refreshingly stimulating, versatile and dynamic performance.
Jeremy Huggett on Tenor, Alto, Soprano and Baritone Sax also plays Flute, Keyboards and sings the odd vocal. Jeremy started his musical career at the age of 4 learning the piano - he added the flute at the age of 6 and the saxes at the age of 21. He studied at Johnny Dankworth's Wavendon Summer School and has played with Acker Bilk, Digby Fairweather, Danny Moss and Tommy Burton.
James Clemas on Keyboards is the youngest member of the band but is already an extremely versatile and experienced musician combining sympathetic accompaniment and exciting solos. James is a graduate of Leeds College of Music where he gained at BA Degree in Jazz Studies and has played with Digby Fairweather, Mark Nightingale, Gerrard Presencer and Terry Lightfoot.
Tony Mann on Double Bass and Tuba is a very versatile and experienced musician who has worked extensively in the UK and abroad playing a variety of types of music. Tony brings with him a wealth of talent and experience and has worked with a number of top UK Jazz Bands on both Double Bass and Tuba. As well as providing solid bass lines, his solos are outstanding.
John Widdison on Drums is the newest member of the band his talent and versatility are exceptional. He began playing drums in pubs and clubs in his home town of Manchester. Since moving south west he has played with many local bands and has toured extensively in Europe. He has played with Danny Mose, Jeanie Lamb, Humphrey Littleton and Alex Welsh.
The doors at Clevedon Jazz Club's Walton Park Hotel venue open at 8pm, the music starts at 8.30pm and its £6 'on the door'.
