 Craig,

Scobey has always been one of my favorites.

the trombonist might have been Jim Beebe, a former member of DJML.

I'll send this to him & perhaps he can remember.

Subject: [Dixielandjazz] Bob Scobey

Driving, complex and THE unique phrasing...it was a one-time thing!

Any Scobey devotees/addicts/afficianods out there?

I'm sitting in Saudi Arabia (!) , sans all the vinyls and CDs (in storage)
but playing back in my mind the images and sounds: the fire engines being
removed from the firehouse...the chairs being aligned...Scobey (and Clancy
and Dave Black and an intentionally-unnamed trombonist) enters the
place...the music (then foreign to these ears) begins...and an entire life
(mine) shifts like the tectonic plates of a major earthquake.

Does the above resonate with anyone? If so, do you recall the firehouse (a
burb of Chicago) and/or the trombonist's name?

Thanks in advance for your sharing.

Craig
