[Dixielandjazz] Newspaper cutting

In this morning's mail was a letter from my Australian daughter-in-law (who
lives in Adelaide) enclosing a snippet from an Aussie newspaper. Here's what
it said :

"Late one night, an elderly black African woman was standing on the side of
a highway in Alabama in the US in a lashing rainstorm. Her car had broken
down and she was trying to flag down passing cars. A young white man
stopped, an action unheard of in the conflict-filled 1960s. The man found
someone to tend to the car and because she appeared to be in a hurry hailed
the woman a taxi. She took his name and address and thanked him.

A week later, a TV set was delivered to the man's house. With it was a note
which read, "Thank you very much for assisting me on the highway the other
night. The rain drenched not only my clothes but my spirits. Then you came
along. Because of you, I was able to make it to my dying husband's bedside
just before he passed away.

God bless you for helping me and unselfishly serving others.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Nat King Cole"

I'm not much of a Good Samaritan myself but that story really touched me.
