While wandering through the LPs (remember them?) stored in a
forgotten closet, I chanced upon a Commodore reissue of
Eddie Heywood and his orchestra---which included four cuts
of the Edmond Hall Sextet. Names like Doc Cheatham, Vic
Dickenson, Al Casey, Sid Catlett on this album. Some good
stuff---interesting arrangements of "Carry Me Back to Old Virginny",
"Coquette" and included his big hit "Begin the Beguine". Recorded
in 1944 or thereabouts.
Anyone have personal memories of Eddie Heywood?
