Many thanks Louis and Richard (about OZ version) yes, Anton Karas, that's
the man - I feel a lot better now.  Another great musical mistery (Scottish
for mystery) solved by DMLers.

An Australian, Shirley Abicare also recorded the song on Zither. It was a
big hit here in Australia!

The Harry Lime theme was composed by Anton Karas, who played it on his
zither for the film. Incidentally he had a hit single with the tune on Decca
records in the UK in 1949.
