According to "Dizzy, Duke, The Count and Me , the Story of the
Monterey Jazz Festival", by Jimmy Lyons with Ira Kamin (1978), it began on
October 3,1958. Louis Armstrong's All Stars played there on September 25,
1960 and September 17, 1965. Cheers.
