Dear friends,
Back from our lunch.
So - continuing the thread:
Louis Armstrong's hit "What A Wonderful World" was written by Bob Thiele and
George David Weiss in mid 1967.
According to one source a third composer, George Douglas, is sometimes
listed but is not mentioned by Mr Thiele in his book 'What A Wonderful
World' (Oxford University Press 1995).
The account from Laurence Bergreen's book (Louis Armstrong - An Extravagant
Life' (Harper Collins 1997) quoted by you was taken (including the
profanities) from Bob Thiele's book.
In this quote you mention that: >Glazer won out. When the album was released
"Newton was showered with accolades for his brilliant and innovative
exploitation of Louis Armstrong."<
The remaining tracks for this LP album were recorded by the All Stars in Las
Vegas on 23 July 1968. (11 months later).
It, unlike the original single of "WAWW", apparently caught on.
Very kind regards,
Bill.
PS for those who might want them:

"What A Wonderful World"
I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself what a wonderful world.

I see skies of blue and clouds of white
The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night
And I think to myself what a wonderful world.

The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people going by
I see friends shaking hands saying how do you do
They're really saying I love you.

I hear babies crying, I watch them grow
They'll learn much more than I'll never know
And I think to myself what a wonderful world
Yes I think to myself what a wonderful world.
