Glissando

Not "Glissandro"<<<<

After the many recent postings on trombone technicalities and the glissando
on reeds, I was reminded of a visit to Preservation Hall some years ago. In
an attempt to compliment Frank Demond, I may have become too effusive and
referred to his well-executed "glissando". With, I hope, tongue in cheek,
probably a very difficult task for a trombonist, Frank responded, "What's a
glissando?" I attempted a fumbling and embarrassed explanation and he said,
"Oh, you mean a 'slide'". 

Can anybody else remember any "gentle" put-downs in the same vein or any
musical malapropisms such as "glissandro". My band, for instance will never
let Herbert Baier, our banjo player, live down his reference to a tenor sax
closing to Basin Street Blues as a "credenza".
