About 50 or 60 years ago, playing both trombone and trumpet was thought to
be the result of a 'freak lip' or some unusual talent. I remember the only
guy who was doing it at the time was Sonny Dunham.
But as it turns out there are a lot of guys doing it now, and it seems
that if one practices both horns, he will actually develop two embouchures
and be able to do it.
I tried it many years ago...had played trumpet, switched to bone. After
playing bone a few years, I tried going back to trumpet, but never really
made it. I think it was just because I didn't stick with it long enough.
