And Bob Pilsbury, who is the pianist with the New Black Eagle Jazz Band,
is one heck of a great pianist.

Guest Pianist, Vocalist Join Alamo City Jazz Band

For Sunday, Aug. 1 Dixieland Concert in Austin

     Pianist Bob Pilsbury from Boston and vocalist
Carol McGiffin from Santa Fe will appear with the
Alamo City Jazz Band in concert on Sunday, August
1, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Donn's Depot, 1600 W.
Fifth Street in Austin.
     Both guest artists met the band during its 40
years of travels, playing and preserving the
original American musical art form, Dixieland
jazz. They join the band on special occasions,
such as that weekend's concerts at the
International Apple Festival in Medina, Texas,
and a charity concert for the Cibolo Nature
Center in Boerne.
     The band also will appear at the September 19
Jazz Alive Festival in San Antonio. For the
sixth year, the band recently played a series of
concerts in New England. Its newest CD is Alamo
City Jazz Band Live from Boston.
     The band is fronted by San Antonio dentist
Chuck Reiley, noted for his "tailgate style" of
trombone playing. Its other regulars include
Larmon Maddox, cornet; John Page, soprano sax;
Bob Black, banjo; Budge Mabry, drums; and Doug
Frantz, tuba.
     The band plays authentic Dixieland standards,
newer tunes in the jazz style and tunes Chuck
Reiley has composed.
     The public is invited to this subscription
event for members of the Austin Traditional Jazz
Society.  Tickets at the door are $10.00;
children under 12, free. There is free parking
and a cash bar. The room will be smoke-free.
