when I wrote

I was going on credits given on such items as the Swaggie "Chocolate
Dandies", French Black & White "McKinney's Cotton Pickers"  LPs and the BMG
CD of McKinney's plus a few others that I won't submit.

After some more research I am fairly certain that Ray Gilbert did not write
the lyrics. The lyricist who wrote Zip-a-de-doo-dah for Disney and added
words to Ory's "Muskrat" was born in 1925 and died in 2000.

He wasn't rated as a child prodigy so I don't think he wrote the original
lyrics. He may have added some later words and was smart enough to ensure
they were copywrited to him.

This is for someone closer to the action in USA to follow.
