Yes, I have heard it described as the "release".

I have heard the term used before on several occasions. I didn't  know 
exactly what it meant but because of the context of the term I assumed that 
it referred to the last eight and not the bridge.

I have two (2) musical dictionaries on my desk but neither contain the term 
"release" so that's no help! I don't doubt Fra Don so I will accept his 
definition as gospel.

Anyone else familiar with the term?
