When I had a Jazz radio show in the Los Angeles market, this was in about
1980 or 81, I produced a concert as a fund raiser for the show.

On the concert was my band, the Great Pacific Jazz Band, & an all-star band
consisting of Johnny Mince, Ray Sherman, Ray Leatherwood & Nick Fatool.

It was at a college auditorium and there was supposed to be no booze on the
premises.

We had a free bar set up back stage.

Waiting to go on, Nick spent a lot of time at the bar.

At one point during the concert when Nick's name was announced, he was
sitting at the drums. He threw up his hands, went to stand up, fell
backwards & disappeared right through the curtain.

The audience loved it. They thought it was a gag. Luckily Nick was not
hurt.

As many of you know, I am blind. I've been playing musically professionally
since I was 12 years old, some 51 years.

I have never once fell off of a stage.
