Pontins, Pakefield, Suffolk

Friday 5th - Monday 8th March 04



Regarded by many as the biggest and brightest jazz festival in the land, the
7th Pakefield Now You Has Jazz Jazz Jazz Festival takes place at Pontins
Holiday Centre, Pakefield, Suffolk, from Friday 5th to Monday 8th March
2004.



Festival Director, drummer, vocalist and bandleader, John Petters has
assembled an impressive array of star talent, featuring the cream of
traditional jazz and swing artistes.



The festival celebrates the centenary of the birth of Fats Waller, one of
the biggest stars in jazz, with a special show, This Joint is Jumpin'.



Regarded as one of the top attractions in Europe, Phil Mason's New Orleans
All-stars with Christine Tyrell, will play especially for dancers.



Remembering one of the pioneers of the British traditional jazz scene will
be the Ken Colyer Trust New Orleans Jazz Band.



The uniquely gifted trumpeter, Cuff Billett and BBC broadcaster / trombonist
Mike Pointon will make several appearances during the weekend.



Young clarinet supremo, James Evans and his Incredible String Four will play
some highly exciting and entertaining Gypsy inspired jazz.



Young trumpet star Allen Beechey will join BBC Radio & Jazz FM star Campbell
Burnap in a tribute to the legendary Wild Bill Davison.



Star Cornetist Chez Chesterman  will lead his all star celebration band,
featuring reedman, John Wurr, while from Oxfordshire, guitarist, Dave
Moorwood introduces young singing sensation Elizabeth May as a feature with
his Rascals of Rhythm.



>From Hampshire, The New Gateway Jazz Band  will play a varied programme of
classic jazz tunes, led by trombonist Keith Samuel.



>From the Midlands, Kaminsky Connection featuring trumpeter Tony Davies and
vocalist Judy Eames will feature the hot music from Chicago and songs made
famous by 30s singing sensation Lee Wiley.



>From Essex the celebrated Hugh Rainey Jazz Band can be expected to entertain
and inspire the jazz jivers.



Star Australian bassist Annie Hawkins joins ex pat clarinettist Dave Bailey
for some inspired small group New Orleans music which also features banjoist
Tim Phillips .



Internationally famous Bandleader, Pete Allen teams up with young piano
genius, Nick Dawson, bassist, Keith Donald and John Petters for and exciting
show entitled 'Havin' Fun'.



Jazz legends Louis Armstrong, Kid Ory and Jack Teagarden will be saluted in
special tribute shows.



Britain's Queen of Song, Miss Val Wiseman will host a show dedicated to Ella
Fitzgerald, Billie Holliday and Peggy Lee.  Piano professor Martin Litton
will play some exciting Rags.



There will be a special Sunday Morning Gospel concert, Walkin' With The King
performed by the John Petters New Orleans All-stars



In addition there will be a grand New Orleans Parade, led by the Grand
Marshall, Terry Eastwood, also a decorated brolly competition, jazz
lectures, a jazz forum and quiz.



Jazz will be presented in two venues - the Stardust Ballroom, for dancing
and the Prince's Show Bar (non smoking venue) for the discerning listener.



All this and much more will be on offer at this residential festival. Half
board accommodation is available from only £127 per person, but book now as
