Bob and interested DJMLrs:

It's taken a while, but I finally have an answer regarding the availability
of copies of Iowa Public Television's show "Bix Lives" which features
traditional and dixieland bands performing at the Bix Beiderbecke Memorial
Jazz Festival in Davenport, Iowa. The production quality is great, and
these shows have been re-broadcast all over America on other Public TV
stations.

1/2 hour VHS tapes ARE AVAILABLE for all shows that were broadcast about
every four years from 1975 to now. Each tape is $25.

IPTV does not promote the fact that the tapes are available to the general
public for reasons I won't go into here.

To obtain a copy of a "Bix Lives" show, contact Jerry Grady at Iowa Public
Television. 1-800-532-1290 or grady at iptv.org

I hope this helps.

Bob,

The "Bix Lives" TV show is broadcast on Iowa Public Television. They enter
into an agreement with the Bix Festival about every five years and shoot all
of the bands that play on the LeClaire Park stage. It is very well produced
and IPTV sells it to other Public TV stations across the country.

List mate Mike Short and I played in one of the bands featured back in '96.

I left a message for the producer of the series about your request to get
copies of past shows and will let you know what he says about obtaining
copies.

Kurt

I believe it was back in the early 80s .I recorded a ton of OKOM on
public TV I think they were broadcast on Friday nights. It was so long
ago I had put them on Beta and then transfered them to VHS. I tried in
vein to get acopy from the TV station but ran into a dead end. I Played
them so much they are about worn out. If any one has these or can
tell me where to get a copy I certainly would appreciate it. Thanks
