Hi everybody,
There are a number of events coming up that should be pretty interesting and a lot of fun!

First of all, this coming Saturday night - February 21 - the Three Plectrums, (Dave Frey,Kurt Abell, Cell Block 7 banjoist, and Larry Kennedy), gather for a rare performance at the Tiburon Community Congregational Church. The church is located at 145 Rock Hill Road in Tiburon. Proceeds benefit the church. The event starts at 6:30 pm. This has traditionally been a "standing-room-only" performance and parking will be at a premium. I suggest getting there early for a seat and parking place! The Three Plectrums will have both CDs available for sale that night.

The weekend of March 12-14, the Southtown Strummers will be performing at the Coos Bay, OR Jazz Festival. We have eight 1 1/4 hour sets during the weekend. There are a bunch of quality bands in attendance.

The weekend of March 26-28, I will be the headline entertainer at the Banjo Spring Fling in Mansfield, Massachusetts. In addition to playing, I'll be teaching a seminar on converting lead sheets to chord melody. Please plan on attending if you live in the New England area.

>From June 18 through 28, I'll be traveling with the Cell Block 7 on a good will tour of Taiwan! This should be an excellent trip! The band is terrific always puts on good performances.

On the local scene, cornettist Tom Barnebey, tubaist Jim Brennan and I have been hired to play every Friday night at Wild Jane's in Guerneville from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Wild Jane's is the old Buck's Restaurant. We started the day after Christmas and crowds have been building ever since! The food is excellent and Jane and her husband Dave are outgoing, fun-loving hosts. Come on out and join in the sing-along fun!

The Fourth Street Five continues to perform at Clo's Creamery on Summerfield Road in Santa Rosa the last Sunday of every month from 2:00 to 5:00 pm - and the Eldorado Syncopators play at Cotati's Northlight Books the second Sunday of every month from 1:00 to 4:00 pm.

Last but not least, the Fretted Instrument Guild of America - FIGA - has selected me as the cover story of the next FIGA Magazine! I am deeply honored! FIGA published their magazine six times a year. Its my understanding that I will be in the March/April issue.

For more information on dates, times, happenings and what's for sale, please check out the www.banjobook.com website! Or write to me directly at: strumr at msn.com . CDs have been selling fast and we currently have Deering plectrum and tenor banjos in stock and ready to ship!

All the best,
Dave Frey
