A friend of mine told me this story about him.
Doodles Weaver while at Stanford had a room on the 2nd floor of the boy's
dorm. There was a tree right outside with a convenient branch, and he would
jump out the window...acting despondent when someone would show up, scaring
the bejeesus out of onlookers...but..he would grab the branch and let
himself down. One day, someone sawed the branch off...he broke his arm in
the fall! To get even, when school was out that spring, he bought a horse
headed for the slaughter house, took it up to the room of the guy who sawed
off the branch, shot the horse,  locked the door, and left.
