I'm not sure. The TOC says "Essay By Phil Schaap", "The Main Players",
"Track Listing", "Overview Essay by Robert G O'Meally", Personal Reflection
by George Avakian"
The "quoted" piece was before the section on main players so I assume it was
Schaap.
