I think you're correct as far as that goes, Brian, but the fact remains that
some songs cannot be played with the "language" of Dixieland.  Modal Jazz
tunes, fusion jazz, hip-hop, and lots of other "styles" just won't
"Dixieland".  To make "Dixieland", we need melody, rhythm, and a fairly rich
variety of chords that move in a somewhat predictable progression.

There is no such thing as a Dixieland tune.

Dixieland, like any variety of jazz is a language.

Any tune can be played if you know and understand the language and it's

complexities.

The grammar however seems to be beyond many.....
