I hope some DJML folks might be in attendance. I'm a member of the board
for this festival (so is listmate Dave Haupt), and I'd love to say hello.

Catch these top-shelf musicians, each boasting international credentials
playing at jazz festivals and parties around the world.
In the case of the Summit Jazz Allstars, the name says it all. Bucky
Pizzarelli, Howard Alden, Ken Peplowski and Jerry Bruno are renowned
musicians united with a common cause: playing traditional jazz at its best.
The Jim Cullum Jazz Band (San Antonio, TX), a cornerstone of Summit Jazz, is
regularly heard on the jazz series, Riverwalk - Live from the Landing airing
on more than 200 public radio stations across the country, including 89.3
KUVO in Denver.
The New Black Eagle Jazz Band (Boston, MA) is hailed for its vast and
diverse repertoire, performing numbers by the early New Orleans masters
(King Oliver, Louis Armstrong and Jelly Roll Morton) as well as the music of
Duke Ellington, Fats Waller and even some originals. Along with making many
recordings, the band has played with the Baltimore Symphony, the Boston Pops
Orchestra and the Scottish National Symphony.
With 27 recordings and numerous international tours, the Climax Jazz Band
(Toronto, Canada) is known for their wide variety of tunes with lots of
vocals and musicians who play straight from the heart with a great sense of
humor. The British-style trad jazz is hot and tight, covering a wide
repertoire of marches, blues, spirituals, ragtime and popular songs.
Two local favorites return to the Summit stage. The Alan Frederickson Jazz
Ensemble appears for the fifteenth time. The Arapahoe High School Dry Creek
Dixie Dawgs, under the direction of Dr. Ed Cannava, returns for the eighth
year and will make a single Sunday performance.
The Grand Ballroom at the Four Points Sheraton Denver Southeast provides
cabaret type seating with excellent acoustics and unobstructed viewing along
with dance floors and cash bars. Make a weekend of it -- the hotel offers
special overnight rates for Summit Jazz patrons.
