Hey you guys,
I have misplaced Jim's email and telephone numbers AGAIN.
If any one would be so kind as to email me off list with the information I
would greatly appreciate it, and I promise this time I will stop and put it into
the computer address book immediately before I lose it again.
Also, if anybody on the list who lives close to the city of Walnut Creek and
plays Tuba is not busy tomorrow / a Bone player who can double on tuba would
be acceptable too, I have two Bb Sousaphones in case you don't have a horn.
We will have a short rehearsal followed by a Bar B que at my house in the
afternoon which is about ten minutes from the parade. email me off list at
Tcashwigg at aol.com or call me at 1-925-952-4585
Saint Gabriel's Celestial Brass Band is going to make a Rare USA appearance
in the Walnut Festival Parade 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p..m at a Community event to
promote our "Jazz For Kids Program" which I will share with the list next
week.
Our regular Tuba player is working in Santa Cruz in the afternoon and will
not be able to get back in time to do this little hit.
We will only play a few tunes so it is not a hard thing to do, but you should
be able walk for about a four or five block stretch and play.
Tunes we will play include:
IKO IKO
Second Line
Mercy Mercy Mercy
Saints
Little Liza Jane
Summertime, funky version
Watermelon Man
St. Thomas
Bill Bailey
If you don't know those tunes we have a lot of standards as well:
Hello Dolly, Mack The Knife, Down By the Riverside, Do Lord Oh Do Lord, Birth
of the Blues, Basin St. Blues, Bye and Bye, Somebody Touched Me, Sweet
Georgia Brown, Georgia, What a wonderful World, Chameleon, Cantaloupe Island,
Caravan, Night Train, Kansas City,
Somebody out there must want to come blow a while with a Real Honest to
Goodness New Orleans Brass Band.
May the Funk Be With You. It lives with us.
Cheers,
Tom Wiggins
