Hi All,

Just a reminder that the Summit Jazz Weekend in Denver is in three weeks - September 26, 27 and 28.

In the latest Jazz Me News, Don Mopsick interviews the executive producer, Juanita Greenwood. As Juanita explains in that article, she has always emphasized a modest but intimate setting for Summit Jazz. Because there is only one stage, attendees can see every performance of all the bands, if registered for the entire weekend.

The part is all jazz and the line-up, as always, includes the Jim Cullum Jazz Band, a formed traditional band from out-of-state, the Alan Frederickson Jazz Ensemble of Denver, a great All Star band and a single appearance by the Arapahoe Dry Creek Dixie Dawgs, a Denver youth band. Alan Frederickson generally serves as the Master of Ceremonies, adding his own inimitable touches.

This year's out-of-state traditional jazz band is the Titan Hot Seven from Nashville, TN. The Summit Jazz All Star band this year consists of:

Mark Shane, piano
Allan Vache, clarinet
Russ Phillips, trombone
Paul Keller, bass
Ed Metz, Jr, drums
John Cocuzzi, vibes

and special guest Anne Barnhart, flute.

Details on the musicians, venue, etc can be found at the website:

Great music in a nice setting, I hope lots of you can make it.

Dave
