[Dixielandjazz] Taping

If I were a performing musician and received significant income
from CD sales, I would take an unkind view of hand-held recorders
in the audience. So I don't tape.
Ten or more years ago, taping was quite common at West Coast
festivals. Then I taped quite a few sessions. Especially those of
Grand Dominion, a band I admired a great deal. I did purchase
every LP and CD they ever made. But, I must say, the tapes are
as valued to me as the CDs, even with less than ideal technical
quality. There can be something quite magical in a live performance,
especially at a small venue with attentive and appreciative fans of
the band. They can try "new" tunes, or different approaches to
"old" tunes. ------ Just listened to a 1989 taping. Soooooo good.
