Dear Anton,
How naughty of you!
Citing the obscure "Ash Hauler" by Big Bill which very, very few DJMLers would have access to.
The lyrics on this are a bit obscure anyway.
I am just listening to it.
(Hey, Black Bob [Hudson], my favourite blues pianist, is on this session.)
You should have mentioned "Ash Haulin' Blues" by Norridge Mayhams and His Barbecue Boys (11 Dec
1936).
More like it. Everyone will have that.
Just kidding!
The vocal on this (by female singer Johnnie Turnshill) leaves the listener in no doubt about the
sexual connection between her need for a man 'to haul her ashes'.
Mike asked how "getting your ashes hauled' came to be a metaphor for sex".
Ms Turnshill's version makes it all VERY clear.
Kind regards,
Bill.
