In the book, for some reason called: "Louis Armstrong" (Da Capo Press, New York 1971), Hugues Panassié writes (p. 8):

".... he felt a need to get away from New Orleans for personal reasons. Ten months earlier he had married a girl named Daisy, and this union had quickly proved unfortunate. ...."

Unfortunately enough HP, who might or might not be an authority on the matter, doesn't state where he got his information ....
