PRESS RELEASE

THE EXCELSIOR JAZZ BAND
12 June 2003 - Clevedon Jazz Club

Last year this band went down a ‘real treat’ at Saturday’s Long Weekend
Shoppers Concert in the Triangle so we’ve brought them indoors for a Club
Night gig on 12 June. In the old Rugby Club days Excelsior were a regular
feature but this is their first appearance at Clevedon Jazz Club’s Walton
Park Hotel venue.

The Excelsior Jazz Band was formed several years ago and they have been one
of the resident bands at Bristol's world famous jazz pub, The Old Duke in
Kings Street for many years.

The scope of this six piece band's repertoire lies within the Traditional
spectrum, with numbers drawn from New Orleans through to standards from
Dixieland as well as some Ellingtonian material.

As well as their residency at The Old Duke, the band have appeared live on
radio and at many local and national jazz festivals. They have recorded an
album and have supported such well known names as Roy Williams, Danny Moss,
Acker Bilk and Alan Elsdon.

The doors open at 8pm, the music starts at 8.30pm and its £5-50 ‘on the
door’. Further details of this and all other Clevedon Jazz Club events, and
Club membership - members get a substantial discount on admission charges!
- are available from Trev on 01275 343210 or from the Club’s web site at
