Hello all

Charlie Hooks goes-on about garden hoses  :-)

Has anybody actually heard a garden hose played with a mouthpiece?

I have a recording of such a performance! - from the Hoffnung Music
Festival in the Festival Hall, London on 13 November 1956. Dennis Brian,
the great horn player, gives us a fragment from Leopold Mozart's Alphorn
Concerto - described as "third movement from Concerto for Hose-pipe and
Strings".

The playing is amazing  - better than many efforts from the 415 Brigade
playing "natural" horns. If Vic Dickenson ever sounded like Dennis Brain
playing the hose-pipe, then that's wonderful.
