The Sacramento Traditional Jazz Society presents pianist Butch Thompson,
May 11, 2003, noon - 5:00 PM.

In a career spanning 35 years, Butch Thompson has earned a worldwide
reputation as a master of ragtime, stride, and classic jazz piano. In
1974, he began his 12-year run as the house pianist on Minnesota Public
Radio's "A Prairie Home Companion" and remained the official House
pianist until 1986. He still appears often as a guest on that show. In
the 90s he worked on-stage in New York and on tour in the Off-Broadway
show "Jelly Roll! The Music and the Man." He also has many recordings to
his credit including his latest CD "On Tour," recorded in the UK.

Butch now spends much of his time on tour in the U.S., and
internationally, performing as a soloist, with his well-known
trio and his eight-piece New Orleans Jazz Originals band. He also
performs often with symphony orchestras.

Opening the show, at noon on the Main Stage, will be the River City
Music Company, one of Sacramento's top Barbershop quartets. At 2:50,
stand by for the crazy antics of The Boondockers.
