Hello all,

The Jelly Roll Morton website has been updated with the following items of
historical interest.

Prof. Lawrence Gushee has discovered the identity of the proprietor of The
Frenchman's, the saloon at the corner of Villere and Bienville where Jelly
Roll, Tony Jackson and other New Orleans pianists played after hours to
charm and thrill the sporting crowd.

To reinforce Lawrence's discovery, Peter Hanley has written a "portrait" of
"The Frenchman's" which provides detailed information.

Continuing with the "speech" transcription project of the Library of
Congress recordings, the following items have been added.

AFS 1640 B - J.Rs ancestry and his early musical education - "BOY AT THE
PIANO"

AFS 1641 A - Bienville's saloon and the congress of pianists - "THE
MISERERE" and "BOYHOOD MEMORIES"

All items can be accessed from the UPDATED PAGES BOX at:

Best wishes from the UK.

Musically yours

Mike
