Hello all,
The Jelly Roll Morton website has been updated with the following items :
LoC 1639 A - "King Porter Stomp, piano piece with story of its composition"
LoC 1639 B - "King Porter Stomp" - "You Can Have it, I Don't Want it" -
"Story of stolen jazz tunes and why they weren't copyrighted"
LoC 1640 A - "J.Rs ancestry and his early musical education"
These monologues can be accessed from the UPDATED PAGES BOX at :
http://www.doctorjazz.freeserve.co.uk
In transcribing Jelly Roll's monologues we have tried to be as accurate as
possible. Morton was not an educated man and made many mistakes e.g.
"policemens," mismatches of subject and verb e.g. "we was down in Biloxi."
Historical accuracy demands that we stick to Jelly's actual speech
patterns.
Hope you enjoy.
Musically yours
Mike
