PRESS RELEASE
ROGER WELLS
NEW ORLEANS HOT SHOTS
27 March 2003 - Clevedon Jazz Club
Club night on Thursday 27th March at Clevedon Jazz Clubs regular Walton
Park Hotel venue features an old Club friend and in fact a Club member who
returns with his own and well established Bristol based band - Roger Wells
New Orleans Hot Shots.
Roger is a stalwart of the local jazz scene and has played drums with most
of the Bristol bands at one time or another. He has also worked with Alan
Elsdon, Keith Nichols, Rod Mason, Kenny Ball, Roy Williams and the West
Jesmond Rhythm Kings.
Roger formed the New Orleans Hot Shots in 1999, initially for a short tour
of Devon and Cornwall, and the musicians were chosen for their ability to
play in the real New Orleans style - the success of which comes over in
their ensemble work. The tour was so successful with both the audiences and
the band that they decided to stay together and have since been in constant
demand for club and festival appearances.
With Roger on stage on the 27th March will be Steve Graham on trumpet, Tom
Whittinghm on Trombone, Martin Butterworth on clarinet, Bill Scott on banjo
and Roger White on string bass.
The doors open at 8pm, the music starts at 8.30pm and its £5 on the door.
