Hi David:
'Tis I. I think we must have met at some time because I recall the story
you recount. If not you then someone else had a similar experience.
I have been retired for the past ten years or so. The grind of running two
places (the Opera House and the Goldenrod Showboat) took its toll and I
retired early. As to still making them laugh, that is pretty much confined
to my wife and two cats.
Thanks for the note.
Best,
Bill

Subject: Are you THE G. William Oakley?
I saw your posting on the DJML. I used to laugh my head (and other parts of
my anatomy) off at the Hertiage Square Opera House in Golden, Colorado, and
I believe the executive producer's name was yours. At some point, I believe
the entertainment was moved to Aurora Colorado over some lease issue with
the semi-amusement park that the Opera House was part of. As far as I was
concerned, the Opera House was the only reason to go to Heritage Square. We
had a visitor one summer, who was 87 years old. After a trip to the Opera
House, he exclaimed that he hadn't enjoyed full belly laughs like that in 40
years. Six months later he passed away. His wife said that up until the
last day, he could not stop talking about the entertainment at the Opera
House.
I no longer live in Colorado, but that's one of the things I miss about it.
If you're the one, I hope you are still providing lots of evenings' worth of
laughs and entertainment for the public.
Kind regards,
